Contadora Island lies at the northern end of the Pearl Islands Archipelago, in the Gulf of Panama on the Pacific.
Contadora means accountant in Spanish, the Spaniards gave the island that name because it was where they counted the pearls that were harvested from the other islands. Hence, the name of the archipelago too. Contadora Island is located approximately 30 miles off the Pacific coast, making it a mere 15 minutes flight from Panama City or 1 hour and 45 minutes ride by boat.
